NewGreens Organic Superfood Powder Giveaway

54 Comments Eat Healthier, Food, Products Pin It

If you have not noticed, I am slightly addicted to smoothies and juices. I have a smoothie every morning without fail, and I am always looking for different ways to spice up my smoothie routine. There are only so many spinach banana smoothies a girl can drink!

I have tried various fruit and veggies combinations as well as different superfood powders. Some are quite tasty- others not so much. You know when you add some form of powder to your drink and than you spit it out? I hate that. Either make the powder so tasty I would eat it off a spoon or make it undetectable, so I don’t even know it’s there. Do all you powder companies hear me?

I recently was given the chance to try NewGreens Organic- a complete superfood drink (created by Pure Prescriptions) and, to be honest, I wasn’t very optimistic. It is greenish in colour and how could that possibly taste good, right?

I also had to check the ingredients list because nobody wants fillers, soy isolate, and artificial flavors or colours, well at least not me. Good news- the only soy is non-GMO organic soy lecithin. I mean if you eat chocolate, you are probably eating soy lecithin. It is an infuser.

TASTE TESTING EXPERIMENT

Coconut Banana NewGreens

  • 1 cup of coconut milk
  • 1-2 frozen bananas
  • 1 scoop of NewGreens
  • Optional- ice

Mix in your blender, and drink up.

When I first received my 2 pouches of NewGreens, I immediately had to try it. I decided to use the least amount of ingredients to find the real taste.

It tasted really good. It has a slight stevia and mint after taste, that I enjoyed. There is zero grittiness. It looked and tasted better than when I add spinach to my smoothies. This recipe was a success!

JP’s Tropical NewGreens

  • Pineapple
  • Mango
  • Frozen strawberries
  • 1 banana
  • Watermelon
  • 1 scoop of NewGreens

He didn’t measure anything, just threw random amounts in the blender. He was nervous about the taste because he really doesn’t like any of my green powders like wheatgrass or chlorella. I made him try it, actually forced him.

He unwillingly took a sip. I waited and  he smiled. He said is was very tasty, mentioned the same mint and stevia after taste, and the best part no grittiness. This recipe gets a two thumbs-up from J.P. He has since decided to add NewGreens to most of his smoothies. I truly can’t believe this!

My Chocolate Mint Smoothie is hands down my favorite with the NewGreens powder. The smell and taste of the fresh mint is divine. It blends so well because it already has a hint of mint in the powder. I still added some spinach just because I like spinach.

Last week I made a Coconut Pistachio Smoothie, and of course I added some NewGreens. Let me tell you, it was delicious.

The thing I love most about this product is that it is organic, and they disclose all ingredients- no guessing games. I had many questions about their product before I decided to try it and their customer service was fabulous. If they didn’t have the answer they found someone who did.

The product is made in the United States which I like. However, not all the ingredients are sourced from the US.

I could go on and on to why I enjoy this product, but I am sure you can all read. So head over to their site and find out why others love them, too.

My main concern was that it comes in a plastic bag. I was told that they make the bag small so less plastic is being used. It can be recycled- apparently. I will have to check with my local recycling plant to confirm that. I wish there was a way to keep powders fresh in non-plastic bags. Perhaps paper bags?

What are she of your favorite smoothies and powders?

Would you like to add a scoop or 2 of NewGreens Organic to your smoothies? PurePrescriptions is giving away one pouch of NewGreens Organic.

How to enter:

I am not going to make you jump through too many hoops to enter; I am going to keep it as simple as possible. Leave me a comment telling me what 100 divided by 2 plus 5 is.

Seriously-  I am not kidding. Canada has some weird rules and you have to answer a skill testing question to win- it can’t just be by pure luck apparently. Seeing as I am a rule follower, if you don’t answer the question even if you are from the United States, and I select your number you will not win. I will move on to another.

Besides that, write whatever you like; say Hi; tell me what other Pure Prescriptions products you like; tell me that I am great….I will leave the rest of the comment writing up to you.

If you would like to follow me, NewGreens or Pure Presciptions on twitter or like me, or Pure Prescriptions on facebook, please feel free. I will leave that at your discretion. It will greatly be appreciated and will most definitely put a smile on our faces. If you decide to however, leave a separate comment letting me know for each action.

Oh and tweeting about the giveaway, won’t gain you anymore entries, but it sure will make this green girl jump up and down with joy!

No purchase is necessary to enter, must be 18 years or older to participate and this giveaway is open to U.S and Canadian residents except Quebec. They have some funky rules that I don’t want to get involved with. The winner will randomly be selected using random.org and the skill testing question will be verified before the winer is announced. Entries will be accepted until midnight EST on Monday, June 18, 2012 and the winner will be announced the following day.

The contest is now closed! Thank you to everyone that took the time to enter. I appreciate it. Drum roll please- the winer is Trisha #25! Congratulations!

Wait… what if someone answers the question but gets it wrong? Would they still win? Oh, Canada, your giveaway rules and your change that doesn’t work in vending machines… both total pains in the booty.

I drink a smoothie daily made from Purity Triple Greens. I also have recently incorporated whey powder made from grass fed cows which has been working remarkably well for satiety levels. Any chance of getting a free smoothie mix, I’m in! :)

  23. Reply Jen says:

I never thought of adding fresh mint to a greens shake. That’s a great idea especially since mint grows wild all over the place if you know how to spot it.

    100 divided by 2 plus 5 is = 55

I have been looking at the Merrell Barefoot shoes lately. I have friends that wear them and there was a pair on clearance at R.E.I. that was more affordable for me but I did not like the fit at all. I was recommended to try a different – newbie – style of barefoot shoe but I saw the price and will try again when money is not so tight.

My fave smoothie is Almond Milk Chai:

2 tsp Ghee or Flax Seed Oil
    1/4 inch fresh ginger
    1/4 tsp cinnamon
    1 T maple syrup (optional)
    1/4 tsp cardamon
    1 cup almond milk
    1/8 tsp nutmeg

    Have you tried it?

  27. Reply ChefCK says:

Always looking for ideas to add to smoothies as I have been not happy with a lot of the powders out there…some are way too sweet, some gummy and lumpy! Looking forward to giving it a try. The almond milk chai smoothie recipe NYC Angel posted looks yummy. Will give it a go!

55 (almost there in age too!)
