I was actually at the beach this weekend with my family and we had such a great time! I am happy to say that we only found one, ONE, piece of trash during our visit. Unfortunately, there is often more. But, this particular trip, we found the particular beach we were at almost completely pristine and natural. The only debris to be seen was all the seaweed washed up when the tide was out. :>

I was a Girl Scout from my early kidlet years, all the way up to an adult co-leader of my old Senior Troop after I graduated high school, but had not left the area yet. And I always remember with every campsite, we were to leave it better than how we found it. So, that’s how I try to leave any place in nature we get to visit….better than I found it. Which means, I try to remove at least one piece of trash or at the very least, to not leave an impact on my surroundings. It’s a good lesson that has stuck with me, even though I haven’t been a Girl Scout in more than a dozen years, don’t ya think?! :>

I think you are so right! We need to take care of our surrounding and be conscious of what we do or don’t do. It is so wonderful that you take the time to enjoy nature and respect all that it is. I think people believe it’s gross to pick up garbage and have an aversion to it. Not me! Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate it very much, Karen!

That’s a neat idea..just 20 minutes can make a difference, I could only imagine how much you guys found. Now if everyone didn’t trash in the first place how much better right? :/

That is awesome. You know we went to the beach at Disney this last Sept. and my oldest C1 spent alot of time picking up garbage. They have already talked about doing it again when we go to the beach this year.

    Thanks for your visit. ๐Ÿ™‚

What a wonderful thing you and your husband did! It never ceases to amaze me how people can leave their trash everywhere and not feel guilty about it.

You guys did a great thing… more people should follow your lead. Everyone’s got at LEAST 20 minutes to devote to such a great cause as the planet that we live on.

Thank you! And yes, I think people do have time to help out a little, but they either don’t care or do not think about it or they think someone else will do….I hope more people do something to help the planet we live on!

Good on you! I don’t have any beaches or lakes close by — but I could start cleaning up the “trash” (clutter) in and around my farm. ๐Ÿ™‚ Great to meet you and thanks for stopping by and following along on my blog. I appreciate it.

Thank you! Me either, no beaches near me, so I am going to be picking up random trash on the streets when I am out!

    I love your blog!

I can never believe how little people care about their surroundings. How can you just throw your trash away without giving it another thought?

Thank you! People do it all the time; no thought just throw it away! Out of sight out of mind I guess.

Found you today through FTM’s Thursday blog hop and so glad I did~Following you
    I love your site design

Also kinda glad to hear your worm composting went sour as I have been playing with that idea for awhile. We do have a compost pile in our back yard but can never seem to get the right mixture for quicker composting but it is amazing that our pile is always shrinking just the same

    Have an incredibly green day
