Kid, You’ll Move Mountains~ Dr.Seuss

Happy Birthday, Dr.Seuss!

Congratulations!

Today is your day.

You’re off to Great Places!

You’re off and away!

So…

be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray

or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O’Shea,

you’re off to Great Places!

Today is your day!

Your mountain is waiting.

So…get on your way!

The simplest things can make change happen if we all come together and demand that change. Most people think that they can’t make a difference. Their voice is too small. They won’t be heard. I disagree. There are many actions we can take collectively to make our cosmetics, detergent, food etc. safe.

Do you want to move a mountain with me? If enough people come together- we can do it.

Let’s move a mountain together- what do you say?

To help you on your way, here are few easy ways to help us move that mountain:

  1. Lori from Groovy Green Livin, with the help of Healthy Child Healthy WorldMomsRising, and Women’s Voices for the Earth, put together a petition asking Procter & Gamble to remove 1,4-dioxane from Tide Free & Gentle®. Please sign their petition!
  2. In the writing mood? Take a few minutes and write a letter to your local Newspaper concerning chemicals in our products. For more information please checkout Safer chemicals, Healthy Families
  3. Another green friend, Anna from Green-Talk, has set up a petition concerning arsenic in our rice. Yes, you heard that right arsenic. Take the time to head on over and ask the FDA, the European Union and the Rice industry to reduce arsenic exposure in rice.

Do you have any other ideas on how we can start moving some mountains together?

I think Dr. Seuss would be proud of all we do for the environment. Moving a mountain is hard work, but we can do it together. Really- that’s the only way.

To another great year- Happy Birthday!

We can move mountains! Pretty amazing-huh? Dr. Seuss was onto something early on. If only we had listened. The good news is it’s not too late. We still can make a difference. Thanks for sharing my petition asking Tide to remove cancer causing chemicals from their detergent. We have almost 2,000 signatures so far. Anna’s petition is also taking off!

    Hooray for Dr. Seuss!

Am I the only one who feels sick seeing the current TV ad in which the Lorax endorses a car?!?

Simplest things, complex things, they all can be accomplished when working together! I hope we see a whole lot more of that in 2012.

Very creative post. Great reminder of all that regular people can do to create change. It is a very exciting time we live in with the world at our fingertips through social media.

I am so curious to see if Tide reacts to the Petition. I’m hopefully it will spur some changes.
