Almonds are one of my favorite nuts and I try to make an effort to consume them daily either solo or in a smoothie or in a nut dip. I am always experimenting with different nuts and flavors when it comes to smoothies, and I think I found a winner with this combination.
What do you think? Are you going to give it a try?
Almond Bliss Smoothie
Yields: 1 serving in a pint glass or mason jar
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups of almond milk or 1/4 cup of almonds and 1 1/2 cups of water (always preferable to soak your almonds before consuming)
- 1 large frozen banana
- 1 Tbsp of coconut oil
- 1Tbsp of flax seeds
- 1 tsp of vanilla flavor
- 2-3 soft dates
- 1 tsp of maple syrup
- 1-2 Tbsp of dried coconut flakes
- Optional: 1 Tbsp of vanilla protein powder
Method
- Put the almond milk, coconut oil, flax seeds, vanilla flavor, dates and maple syrup into a high powered blender. Blend until creamy.
- Add the frozen banana, and optional ingredients. Blend
- Add the coconut flakes and gently blend.
Enjoy this almond bliss in a glass!

Beautiful photo! Looks insanely delish…
Thanks, Tiff!! It tastes great. It is sweeter than I usually make my smoothies, but I love maple syrup!
I will try it maybe tomorrow but may make a change. I will probably use almond butter and milk instead of almond milk. Thanks for the recipe
I hope you like it. I am sure it will be so tasty with the changes!
Another smoothie recipe to add to my list! Anything with flax, banana and almond gets bumped to the top to try.
Let me know what you think!
That looks really good. Sounds amazing to start the day with.
Thank you. Please let me know if you try it!
I was thinking of trying this with something like brazil nuts. Can I soak the brazil nuts overnight and then add them and 1 1/2 cups water to my food processor with the other ingredients you mentioned? Maybe cashews would work too? I have been trying to think of a way to have a high protein breakfast to switch up things a bit from eggs.
I also have a new food processor that I don’t know how to use. Thanks!
Kristie, you can soak the brazil nuts but I have heard it is not necessary. I am sure the brazil nuts and cashews will taste great as well. I usually soak my cashews for a few hours before using them.
Here are a few yummy smoothies with cashews and brazil nuts. Add vanilla protein powder to them and yummy!

Gorgeous photo! I will have to try the recipe. Though I have never used actual almonds in a smoothie before (only almond milk). Can I run them ok through the blender?
