These small little chocolates are perfect to curb your sweet tooth craving. The hazelnut filling stays nice and creamy, while the chocolate is firm and crunchy. I am so happy they turned out the way they did. J.P was pleasantly surprised by my chocolate making skills, as was I! I have a few other flavors I am working on, that I will share in the next few weeks.
What flavors would you like me to test out? Any favorite combinations?
Hazelnut Chocolates
Yields: 16 small chocolates
Ingredients
Chocolate
- 1 cup of coconut oil, melted
- 1 cup of cacao powder
- 1/2 cup of maple syrup
- 1 Tbsp of vanilla flavor
Hazelnut center
- 3/4 cup of hazelnuts
- 1/4 cup plus 2 Tbsp of maple syrup or other liquid sweetner
- 1/4 cup of finely shredded coconut
- 1 Tbsp of vanilla flavor
Method
- Place all the ingredients for the hazelnut filling into a high powered blender, and blend until creamy. You may need to scrap down the sizes to help with the blending.
- Melt the coconut oil over low heat.
- Once melted, pour the coconut oil into a mixing bowl, and add in the rest of the chocolate ingredients. Stir.
- Pour chocolate into each mold, just enough to cover the bottom. I used an ice cube tray.
- Place in the freezer for 10 minutes or until the chocolate is firm.
- Remove from the freezer, and place the hazelnut filling over each layer of the chocolate.
- Pour the remaining chocolate into each mold, until the hazelnut filling is completely covered.
- Return the molds to the freezer until firm.
- Enjoy!

I am the Good Girl Gone Green. Seeing garbage cans overflowing with recyclables breaks my heart.

Mmm … I’m thinking Valentine’s Day for these goodies. I just watched a program about chocolate and learned that milk chocolate, because of the dairy and other stuff added, loses all the heart healthy benefits of the cocoa. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
these look and sound AMAZING!!! I cannot wait to try them. Hazelnut is one of my favorite flavors of all time.
Don’t laugh, but I’ve never eaten hazelnut in anything. I drink hazelnut coffee creamer, but I didn’t even realize until recently that there are hazelnut food products.
This is a must try!
Not laughing!
I don’t eat much of hazelnut anything myself either, but this combo tastes yummy! Most people associate hazelnuts with nutella!
These look delish! If only I hadn’t given up sweets for the new year!
This just sounds SO yummy!
YUM!!! I’m not a vegan, but I can’t have dairy – this looks like a great treat!!!
These look so good! Can you taste the maple in the finished chocolates? I wonder if honey would give it a more neutral taste, or if it would make much of a difference?
I can imagine that my children might really like to help me make these soon…
Wow, these look amazing…. yum…. you caught me in a weak chocolate-y wanting mood! lol!
This looks awesome! I enjoyed this week’s belly pic!

This is just my kind of recipe! My husband can’t eat peanuts, so I like the hazelnut idea.
Yummmmm. This looks so good!! I am going to have to make this recipe. I like to make my own dark chocolate with just coconut oil and cocoa powder. Simple and delish recipes are where it’s at!! Thanks for sharing.

Gah, these sweets you keep sharing are killing me! I need them now!!! LOL! Thanks for sharing another amazing recipe for Delicious Dish Tuesday! Always look forward to what you’ll share next!
Wow! I just bookmarked this! I have to try this out. I recently made chocolate from bean to bar with a friend of mine who owns an organic chocolate company on the island. I had no idea about the chocolate making process. Roasting the beans, winnowing the husks off the beans, grinding them, etc… Amazing. What a sense of accomplishment once you’ve created something from something completely different!
