Most people know that oranges are high in vitamin C (116% of the daily recommended amount). It is this high concentration of vitamin C that gives oranges their reputation for fighting off cold and flu viruses. Did you know that oranges also contain vitamins A and B1, potassium, folate, calcium and dietary fiber? They have been shown to lower blood pressure and cholesterol and also have anti-inflammatory properties. Diets high in citrus fruits, such as oranges, have been shown to lower the risk of esophageal, oral and stomach cancers.
I love oranges and as you can see by the picture, so does little E. We especially enjoy the Texas grown ones that all three of us have been stuffing our faces with recently. They just taste so good. I have been in the kitchen creating different smoothies this past week, with oranges being the main feature, and, so far, this particular smoothie has been my favorite. Therefore, I knew I had to share this tasty drink! Please do not get put off by the color. It is the spinach's fault that it looks not so colorful.
Orange Strawberry Smoothie Delight
Ingredients
- 1 large orange peeled and chopped
- 5 frozen strawberries
- 1 large handful of spinach
- 3-4 drops of stevia
- 1/2 cup of water
- Optional- orange extract The orange extract gives it more of an orange punch, but it tastes good with or without it.
Instructions
- Throw everything in the blender or food processor, and blend until smooth.
Enjoy this sweet and delicious drink. It will most definitely add some spunk to your step.

I can’t wait to try this! We have smoothies every single day in this house. I’m just catching up with your blog. So much great information here, I need to make you a part of my priority reads every day. Thanks!!
It is super tasty! 🙂
What a great way to start the day! Do you usually use Stevia in your smoothies? Have you tried other sweeteners? Just curious.
Thanks, L! I sometimes use stevia, not often because I don’t like the overpowering aftertaste if I put too much. Dates, raisins or other fruit is usually what I use for sweeteners the bulk of the time, but I do use coconut sugar and honey/maple syrup on occasion, if I need a liquid sweetener and am too lazy to make date paste. I don’t really use sugar otherwise. Let me know if you try it!
I know! I am always changing up my smoothie routine. Sometimes they taste really great- other times not so much!!! LOL
Yummy. I love Stevia but I use the Stevia in the Raw. I like it sweet and the Stevia in the Raw is great in smoothies bc it makes it kind of frothy too.
Oh, stevia in the raw. I will have to look for that!
Let me know if you try it! I love spinach in my smoothies! 🙂
Yummy!!!! Hugs and Happy Easter Wishes!
Thanks so much!
That looks really good! My friend recently made me a smoothie with spinach and I usually only like fruity drinks, but I couldn’t taste it at all! So I’m definitely going to be using it more often now.
Thanks!
You know, I’ve wanted to try a green smoothie. We drink them for breakfast every morning, and one day I threw in some carrots & celery= NOT good. I think spinach might be a better choice! Visiting via for the love of cupcakes today!
LOL! It is all about trial and error! 🙂
We have tons of frozen strawberries right now, and I’ve been wondering about orange in the smoothies. I’m so glad you’ve already tried it and it’s great.:)
The oranges taste so good in a smoothie! Do it!

Thank you.
I love that you can’t even taste the spinach!
Love that you compost your toe nails…..me too!
Don’t add too much stevia, it can have a bitter after taste! 🙂
I’m going green, too! Thanks for the smoothie recipe.
Enjoy!
Have not tried it yet, but I will have to! We have become a fan of spinach in smoothies and my little boy loves them!
It is very very tasty!
