It is raspberries season, and I am so excited! I found another local farmer about 20 minutes from my place that sells freshly picked raspberries among other fruits and veggies. I was at my local natural food store when I saw the raspberries- there were California ones and local ones. No brainer on which ones to purchase.
The name of the farm was on the label so I took out my trusty iPhone and googled the farm. Found them and put the package of raspberries back on the shelf that was $3.69 for a small container. That afternoon, I was at the farm picking up some raspberries. Since I bought 2 boxes containing 12 containers in each box, they sold the small containers for $2.50 each. Crazy! That is a savings of $1.19 per container because I went right to the source. I tapped myself on the back.
Did I mention the farm is certified organic? All I can say is that they are the best tasting raspberries I have ever had.
We are almost through the first box, but in my defense I did make lots of raspberries smoothies, and a raw sweet treat. And, little E has been eating them like crazy. I blame her.
Just to be clear, I will be returning the empty box and all the plastic containers for the farmers to reuse!

We drank a lot of juice and smoothies this week. I am pretty sure we have double the amount of compost this week. I believe this is our composting record.
I would say at least 25 lbs.
We didn’t have much recycling. I did have a few glass jars that I won’t be able to reuse that I decided to put in the recycling.
We had the usual suspects like receipts, and some random pieces of plastic that can’t be recycled. Not much trash to report. It was a really good week. When I went to La Crudessence to pick up our food, I brought our LunchBots, so I didn’t have to take any plastic containers! They are always so accommodating to my not so easy ways.
This week, J.P drove from his parents place on Monday as well as from work and back all week. I drove from his parents place as well on Monday, daycare, Lufa Farms, Verger Terrasolen (farm), and some local driving.
The total distance traveled on the TDI was 346.5 km (215 mi) and for the Mazda it was 248.5 km (142 mi). We didn’t have to fill up either gas tank his week.
compost, garbage, local farm, organic, recycle, trash, zero waste
